Hallmarking Notice
All gold jewellery sold by Chrysus Golds that exceeds the minimum weight threshold is hallmarked in accordance with the Hallmarking Act 1973 and the requirements set by the UK Assay Offices.
What is Hallmarking?
Hallmarking is the official mark struck on articles made of precious metal by one of the four UK Assay Offices: London, Birmingham, Sheffield, and Edinburgh. A hallmark provides an independent guarantee that the metal has been tested and conforms to the legal standard of purity.
Our Gold Standard
Our signature collection is crafted in 22 carat gold (916.6 parts per thousand pure gold), one of the highest purity standards available for wearable jewellery. Each piece carries the following hallmark components:
- Sponsor's Mark — the maker's or sponsor's unique identifier
- Fineness Mark — 916 for 22 carat gold
- Assay Office Mark — indicating which UK Assay Office tested the piece
- Date Letter — the year in which the article was hallmarked (where applicable)
Legal Requirement
Under the Hallmarking Act 1973, it is an offence to describe an unhallmarked article as being made of gold unless it falls below the minimum weight exemption. All Chrysus Golds pieces meet or exceed the hallmarking requirement.
